Ernie Anderson was an American actor, writer, and television host. He was best known for his work as the host of the television game show Family Feud from 1976 to 1985. He was also the voice of ABC from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Anderson was born in Lynn, Massachusetts, and attended Lynn English High School. He began his career as a radio announcer in the 1950s, and later moved to television. He hosted a variety of game shows, including The Hollywood Squares, Password, and the original version of The Joker's Wild. Anderson was also an accomplished voice actor, providing the voice of ABC from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. He also provided the voice of the character Ghoulardi on the Cleveland television show Shock Theater. Anderson died on February 6, 1997, at the age of 73. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.

Ernie Anderson was inducted into the "Horror Host Hall of Fame" in 2011 for his horror host character "Ghoulardi" in the television series "Shock Theater" on WJW Channel 8 Cleveland Ohio.
Drew Carey has worn Ghoulardi T-Shirts on the set of The Drew Carey Show (1995) and dedicated an episode in his memory.
He also did the voiceover for the previews of current episodes during the first three seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987).
During a video interview segment that ran on the local ABC affiliate in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, he displayed a photo of his wife and kids that sat on his desk. Everyone in the photo was wearing fake glasses and fake noses as a gag.
